Device and soft : Line 6 POD Farm 2 + GX/POD HD 500
Positive Grid BiasFX Simple version
OS PC controller - Windows 7 64-bit
OS Laptop - Windows 10 64-bitIf I'm asked what a modern guitar processor should look like, I'll show this video so that I do not repeat the same 10 times.

Maybe the video on this site is not welcome, but attempts to explain the idea to people, even in their native language, lead to an absolute lack of understanding of the idea. Sorry.
Thank people it is the brief and understandable translation of my idea into English."to summarize, the idea is this:
-
have a PC built-in to the guitar processor - so a simple Windows computer inside the guitar processor. this computer would be handling guitar app, all connections, recording, music playback, etc.
-
use ANOTHER computer to remote view the built-in computer's screen. this 2nd computer doesn't do any heavy lifting, just controls and views the other built-in computer.
this idea is solely to avoid having to plug in an USB cable when recording guitar videos at home, since he has to sit farther away from the computer so the camera can see his face and the guitar."

Wait are you sure the 500 doesnt do MIDI over USB? The Pod XT Live sure does
-
I was surprised
Sad but true.
Moreover, the driver under Windows 10 is just awful. Constantly in conflict with the policy of power supply for usb ports. And i constant catch Bsod
Sorry my english bad
But this is not the very essence of the video.)) -
Example of the flexibility.
By the way, it's not necessary to use this principle only in a guitar processor ...
Image on PC controller - it is game Nardi/Backgammon -
One of the possible ways of developing my thought.
Maybe I'm an "junkie" ... maybe.
Or maybe I'm outraged by the conservatism of the target audience (guitarists) who, because of the trees do not see forest. And are accustomed to being strangled cables like in the old days
And maybe I'll live to the point where I can see my idea not in fantasy -
Found at a forum of competitors.
"It would be great to see HX Edit on Linux for those of us who have no Windows or Mac computers. Even just a Crossover bottle running the Windows version through WINE would suffice (and require the least amount of effort on Line 6's part)."
My idea solves this problemYou write 1 remote interface and update you built-in OS, and free up the time of programmers who adapt software for different OSes
-
Now, i think about the price and how to implement my idea with minimal money. Without "non science fiction".
Reading on the forums about Linux, I was looking for information about how to solve the problem with delays when record on Linux OS.
ASIO is a crutch only for the Windows operating system.
I asked myself if my plug-in can work with the sound already recorded via WASAPI.
Answer - Yes. Easy.
Therefore, my Audio interface is necessary, only for working with a licensed software (such as POD Farm from Line 6) or if the internal processing of the processor is unique (AxeFX, BiasHead, Helix and etc.). And if i monitoring my guitar play and record.
For implementation, we need:- For example Mini PC ASUS VivoStick PC TS10-B041D built-in our sound interface. (In the future, I call this chain - "package")
- Your PC with which you normally work while recording. (In the future- "work")
- On your "package" -PC we install DAW like Reaper with bounded functional
3.1. First track for monitoring sound with which you are comfortable playing
3.2. Second track for record only Audio interface sound, without software plug-in processing.
3.3. Third track record direct signal without any processing.
3.4. And install playback interface. - From our "work" PC we send a audio stream in playback interface on "package" PC, under which we will play. It can be a metronome, mp3, or a project in the DAW (for example: bass, drum, riff guitar, without solo guitar and we recording our solo)
- On "package" PC we buffered our input soundtrack, so that playback is not interrupted.
- Record our guitar in DAW on "package" PC.
7.Export our record to "work" PC. For example: We can create scenar export. For inputs = wirelles signal. (We don't need monitoring input stream on-line in "work" PC, we monitoring it on "package", so latency not important). Or we can manually (CTRL+C,CTRL+V) transport our record on our "work" PC.
On "work" PC we finally processing our project any plug-in without ASIO driver.
Now let's count the money
- "work" PC - you have = 0$
- Home WiFi - you have = 0$
- mini PC ASUS VivoStick PC TS10-B041D = 140$ on Ebay
result 140$ + price for audio interface (my Line 6 GX if new = 50$) = 190$
My "work" PC without problem processing 3-4 plug-ins like Helix. I have Core Duo 8400 it is very old processor. So to record 1 track without heavy post-processing, we do not need a super powerful processor type I7 8700k.

Now, how this device can be organized inside.
Case: Conventional floor box with a set of footswitches (midi) and pedal exp.
Device control: bluetooth (smartphone), remote control via WiFi, knobs which is connected to custom param (like gain, mid, bass and etc. on VST plug-in, example: amp plug-in it is you choiсe). and hdmi connector for external monitor with/without touchsensor control.Physical Classic input: 1/4 jack (guitar) mini stereo jack (inplug external playback)
Physical Classic output: 1/4 stereo jack/mini stereo jack (headphone/speakers).
We need classic connection for non latency monitoring our play.Wireless in: WiFi external playback signal (mix/metronom/mp3 and etc.), final processing DAW loop.
Wireless out: WiFi transfered our playrecord to DAW on PC, final processing DAW loop.
We need wireless connection to connect our device with a PC and access our DAC / ADC on our pedalboard in finally control our recorded track after record. Latency in this moment not important, and we can deleted and not use USB connection.Software: VST rig rack with native software and thrid-party software with tight binding to the internal store. By the principle of a physical key in your hardware.
IMPORTANT!!!
My experience say - no difference between i7-7800 and core duo 8400 if Windows decided to update. Your sound will begin to lag even on 512 samples in ASIO. Therefore, your software and third-party software should work as a clock and without failures. In work's not interfere extraneous and unnecessary services. as the above-mentioned update of Windows. Without it, my idea = 0.
Thrid-party software developers.
What is the point of them leaving other place and coming to you? I almost did not see mass hacking programs for phones or game consoles. just take a part with yourself from each sale and give a piece to them. Your device not hacked easy. I will not speak for others, but personally I would buy such a box for the VST plug-ins in hardware, which is specially made for them and work stabillity not like the ASIO in Line 6 every 5 minutes -Bsod. And the more so it is wireless.
Software price - 30-40$ for 1 plug-in, not 199-500. Take money from, a large sell volume at a low price
Hardware: i don't know but iPhone can work with Bias FX plug-in, and hardware in it's device not powerfull. To increase capacity to an acceptable level and there will be no problems. If people are willing to pay money for Helix, which costs more than $ 1000, then for this money you can take a hardware that will pull any load in the real time.
And we don't use internal DSP - and not increase price.
And real-time we need in 1 moment - if we recording. In recording I not use 30-40 plug-in, max 1-5. I use 30-40 plug-in when finally export to "mp3" my mix, but in this moment latency not important.
Damn it, I'm ready to "go to crazy" that get rid of the bundle Audio interface <= USB cable => PC!!! LOL
And thanks to those, who create such branches on forums where the user can fully express the most insane ideas and moderator opinion do not interfere. Which I personally do not care about, when I come up with an idea for my own needs. And do not delete, what they think is stupid idea. -
Now I propose to consider competitors. For example, let's take the audio interfaces of Apollo the type connection - Thunderbolt.
Everything is fine, the plugins work fine, delays are low and other marketing bullshit.
At me as at the user Windows at once there is a question, and how it to connect, if at me old motherboard ??? This is where the shamanistic dances begin, as in this video.
Youtube VideoIf you combine beaver with donkey (sound interface with your DSP and PC), then you can built-in it.
Otherwise, I'm buying an adapter card, that can conflict with my motherboard, RAM or not support or finally I do not have free port ... And what? the manufacturer thinks that i purchase PC for its wonderful interface ? Really?
UAD price> 500 $ + How much price new MacBook?
The main argument when they say to me: it's an expensive pleasure - embedding the PC in the processor. And somebody wondered how much upgrade would cost when changing a only connection (USB to Thunderbolt)? And what kind of headache do users acquire?
And the funniest thing is that I have never worked with this port. And quickly find information on how to integrate this interface into my "studio" I could not. Starting from the fact that I need an accurate marking of the equipment installed in my PC and lists of conflicts between the equipment (old and new standart).
And if I use a laptop? How will I install a new expansion board in it? Via USB?
My answer: no idea.
