Delay Notice: BIAS AMP 2 for BIAS Rack/Head(Update/May/21/2018)
-
Also my expectations are pretty high
-
My guess is that they can't get it working well due to the really high CPU usage (and lack of multithreading) of BIAS AMP 2. It's currently a CPU hog, so it's possible that the head/rack hardware can't keep up with it. (have no idea what they're running in there)
Maybe the CPU usage is necessary for that level of tone. That would be ok as long as it utilized multiple threads well, which it does not.

This would mean, that the MINI has a stronger CPU. Possible but not likely :/

It's a newer unit, so very possible. Also possible that it isn't of course.
-
Its up and down with multithreading in plugins in general for low latency use. I should run a few tests and see what gets sketchy where regarding forcing multithreads with BIAS FX

I was always very satisfied with the support of PG but according the fact that the rack/head is the most expensive unit they sell its not ok to release the mini head that supports amp2 and the rack user have to wait. Please focus on that integration and don't let the loyal customer regret the purchase of this.
-
That's all totally possible. I mean, maybe there is a technical issue with Bias Head or with staffing or with planning. But currently, we as customers don't know. We're just speculating. Only PG knows. And they are not informing their customers about the reasons. My point is, in a manufacturer to customer relation anno 2018 it would be nice and decent to inform your customers about the reasons. Hello there, we're fans of your awesome products, and we completely understand that things can go not as planned, but please understand that openness is part of the trust in a relation.

@johan-enbom The ETA will be around the end of April!:metal_tone2:
-
So that's an ETA on an ETA? :joy:
-
Im glad i returned my rack unit in 30days, i waited 1month and now when i read this forum month later, I don't need regret anything. Same delay notice updates rolling...
-
-
The wait is unbearable!
-
I am ready to commit to purchasing a head but this announcement has me concerned. Postponed is different to me than delayed. Postponed could mean stopped all together or a shift in priorities has been made. At this point it is the release of AMP 2 that has tipped my decision to purchase. I am going to have to wait until further news is released and there is a commitment that AMP2 will and can be supported on existing hardware. I am indeed hoping they have not hit a technical resource roadblock as they port the software to the hardware. Like others I am looking for some news, "postponed" does not provide much.
-
I sold one of my two Bias Head already because I just don't get it.
I want to use my preset with my head but it's not possible, so I'm looking to different options.
I'm working in IT and I know there can be some issue and delay on major releases, but the fog PG keeps around that got me worried for the release of the new album we are getting ready to record. -
from PG said they release an ETA by the end of April .... maybe tomorrow?
-
@giuseppe-di-blasi There's still a few more days left of this month. We may get info next week.

-
Damn, I don't know how many times I hit the reload button to refresh the download page, the last few days :/
-
@sascha-ballweg me too:dizzy_face:
-
Well, only a few hours left to go  I'm happy to keep using BiasAmp1 but all the tone matching and new models I want to use live, not just in my DAW, are in 2.
