Cab sim while using real cab
-
Just a thought, but would be quite nice if there was a feature where you could tell bias what real world speakers you're using, then with its computer magic it could change the eq curve on the amp, effectively taking out the characteristics of your speaker to make it sound like another.
I know this can be done on frfr speakers with cab sim active, but would be very cool if they could make green backs sound like v30s for example, or any other speaker you like

its doable, in the early days we were beating the hell out of ourselves to make reversal files with test tones and do all we could to null stuff, and it really is scary how close you could get to that null point!

@liam Real cabs are very limited in their frequency range. So I do not see any sense in bending one castrato to another castrato and I strongly advised to go FRFR ;)

Yup, when you are dealing with a 12" midrange style guitar speaker, in order to force another response on them, you have to be willing to lose a LOT of volume if you want it close

Yeah FRFR is definitely the best way to go with modelling, but I only invested in my cab last year so don't fancy getting rid this soon. Don't get me wrong, I tried the bias through the same cab I own and it sounded great but would be nice to have even more possibilities!

Not gonna happen. A novelty feature at best. Further, speakers and cabs don't just sound different, they respond differently under load. That alone would be a bug report nightmare. 'OH, I'm not getting that.......from........... Make it right!'
For squirts and tickles, you might present your idea over at The Gear Page, or especially the Fractal forum, and see what response you get from the experts.
