Amp vs FX sound quality
-
I’m demoing both Amp an Fx. It seems to me that the same model amp sounds better in Amp. I just loaded the tweed deluxe with the same settings in both. Amp seemed like a stronger clearer sound. Even when I saved the preset in Amp then opened it Fx there was a noticeable difference.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does the preset require tweaking in Fx? -
I have experienced the same issue. I would think that after spending the time in BA2 to get the right tone that it should translate to BFX the same way prior to adding pedals into the chain. Are there any PG wizards on this forum that may be able to have some advice on this?

Of course, if they combined the two apps maybe this wouldn't be an issue.....
-
I've had the same feeling, but ended up deciding it was a matter of volume settings (in and out of the app). Slightly louder in and it's like changing pups on the guitar. Just like it should be. Slightly louder out and it feels mightier, just like everything else.

@antkn33 Actually I usually combine them. BFX with drives (or whatever I want in front of the amp) and inactivated amp - BA2 without speakers - BFX with post effects and inactivated amps - Two Notes Wall of Sound with cabs - Maybe some more effects.
Just because it feels more natural to me having things in different plugins. -

If your BFX signal chain contains PG pre and post effects, you have to chain BFX-B2-BFX when editing amp parameters, so that it's apples to apples.
In my experience, tones have been the same sounding. I do not play above loud conversational level, and typically have no sound in my environment all day long, so my hearing is not cornfuckled. I have fooled myself many times, though. Volume is an issue because it is electric guitar. No other sound in the world has this issue.

@john didn’t know you could do that. I’ll give it a try
-
@tannhauser are you using this as plugins in a daw or standalone?
-
@antkn33 In a DAW. In Reaper.
Correction: It wasn't me you asked. Sorry. -
@tannhauser I didn't chain when comparing. Same amp in BFX and BA, same BA cab, and nothing else on. I believe there probably was no difference in sound except that it was hard getting the same volumes.
-
@john yeah it’s hard for me to match levels. I would have a hard time using this live
-
@brian-dress On BA2 I've simply set both levels on 0. Normally I just adjust the interface and any plugins accordingly. I adjust the final volume of the amp with the transformer output, so it's saved with the preset.
-
Yeah that’s another thing that is annoying. Presets, amps, etc have wildly variable initial output. It also seems that the master volume and such are not saved with the preset.
-
@antkn33 : all parameters here remain the same - but for the parametric level in B2, which gets reset on patch save and change. As John said, within Reaper - though on occasion that I've compared standalones, they have sounded the same. I can't compare my tones because they have BFX pre components.
