Headrush Gigboard
-
@madmarcus1960 ok you’re not helping my gas. Maybe talk me about if buying one. I was a click away from ordering one today. The thing is I really don’t have that much dough to spend. Massive improvement over Bias fx? Have you done any comparisons?
If I could ask one favor, could you give me your opinion on the AC 30? Is it that much better than Bias?
MUST. NOT. BUY. GIGBOARD. seriously struggling with gear envy right now
-
I doubt it’s much of an improvement over bias tonewise. Perhaps in the area of workflow or interface etc. depends on how you’re using Bias also. Sometimes I get so frustrated using bias on iPhone that I just pull out my laptop and go for helix native or kazrog. Sometimes I gas for a box, even a cheap one like the mooer ge200, although the preamp live with tone capture sounds intriguing.
-
@brian-dress I am going to give myself some time before I buy one. By christmas time I'm pulling the trigger
-
@alderre there’s the helix HX stomp too. I hear the amp models are better there
-
The headrush thing doesnt have a harmonizer right? Does it have auto engage for the wah?
-
@pipelineaudio Harmonizer ("Smart Harm") is on the way as some others too

It think it sounds great, for me. I think I've never owned a nice tube amp unless an Tweaker 44 is considered one. My playing grew mostly with the arrival of modelers, POD2.0, Flextone 1 Duo.
I can jam out using most of the gear that has come out in the last 25 years or so.As far as your GAS, speaking to the wrong rabbit here, In the words of newly appointe US Chief Justice Kavanaugh, "I like gear, boys like gear, girls like gear, I like gear"! ;>)
That being said, I love my 11R, still have it in a rack down my basement. The Gigboard sounds better, by how much, I don't know, but when I added an IR loader(EpSi to the 11R), it came alive. Now it's built in and can handle big IRs 96KHz/32bit, more resolution. All about convenience with that and a great touch screen. I bonded with it immediately. Loading and sorting patches and IRs is pretty easy.
I own a Mini Bass that I bought for guitar, as it was a discounted demo. I may try the Gigboard as the FXs for the Mini.
Buy one from a place with a easy return policy. Then make your own opinion. I like it.
As far as the Helix Stomp vs anything. The Line 6 stuff has a sound that you either like or don't. Maybe more raw. Most of the stuff I own sounds a little more polished. My kingdaddy piece of gear is a KPA, so that can sound raw or polished. So it is all about preference. One thing I can't stand is a pissing contest about gear. That's why The Gear Page drives me insane! Troll City.

I would love to see a side-by-side recording of the 11r + EpSi vs. Headrush using the same IR, Bro!
There is no comparison on the whole internet and people would get crazy to have it.
Could I beg you? -
Any idea if it has auto engage? Is the bigger board getting the new FX too?
-
Man, this is sad...PG is sitting on a true dominator with a few hopefully minor paradigm shifts, but if they don't there are a few devices like this that really will eclipse their offerings
-
@pipelineaudio I’m curious why you think this. Are the pg models really that much better than other offerings? I have t really been able to dial in tones that were wayyy better than helix or kazrog
-
There are some strange and strangely real things to me about the way the PG stuff behaves. I think it really shows in their LA2A plugin. There really feels like a lot of potential in whatever way it is they decided to do their simulations. It makes me think guitar tones will be child's play.
I really wasn't able to get Helix to act as well to me as Bias does. However, I would be 90% happy with a Helix and confident that it is fully usable. Is it worth losing so much function to get that last little bit of tone that really, only matters to me (and in the end its a black box, likely you could get it to sound 100% the same in an ABX test)
I have no idea on the Headrush thing, but from what I have been able to read so far, the function is there. I couldn't stand the 11 rack, but I didn't spend enough time with it to really know that for sure
-
@pipelineaudio if that is the case I’d work towards making something that sends out the turn on cc for the wah when you engage the exp pedal or why not just use a wah before your interface? Or maybe you already tried that?
-
I definitely want wah state to be in preset default position, so that rules out a hardware one (except interestingly, if I could use the amp switches on the FCB1010 to turn it back to off....hmmmm
But even if the auto engage was settled, there is still the dual output path problem (which you can sort of solve by making dual amps, but not quite, as it will matter to post amp fx, though i did recently send PG a mockup of how to take care of that problem as well, fingers crossed), lack of a harmonizer, and probably some other few things Helix is doing correctly at this point
-
@madmarcus1960 well I just bought the gig board too.
It should arrive Tuesday. Secretly hoping it doesn’t sound better than Bias.
-
Nice, when I was younger I would of bought it in heartbeat. Hope it works out well and can't wait to hear your thoughts - cheers
-
@tafkad What do you mean when IF you were younger? Are you an AxeFX man? Tube-Only?
Just curious..
-
I mean literally when I was younger if that had came out like 20-25 years ago I'd have been all over it regardless of what I was using because it does look cool.
In my old age I am slower to change haha and don't trust gear as much or companies = jaded
cheers

Sent mine back today. The lack of MIDI integration into the Gigboard other than patch changing is a deal breaker for me(no CC# control). It sounded good, but so do a lot of things. Maybe I'll revisit it if they fix this down the road.
In the meantime, I'm loving my BIAS MINI, Delay Pro and Mod Pro setup. Yes, a real world BIAS FX! -
@pipelineaudio Hey! I'd be really interested in that too, except a more simple version. Could you maybe take a look at my thread where I explain my issue? Thanks! https://forum.positivegrid.com/topic/2036/bias-fx-presets-on-hardware
