Not exactly BIAS FX question but I get this weird artefact in Reaper
-
when I record with BIAS FX - it is like a faint sound of plucked string at the very beginning of recorded clip. I hold my hand of the strings when pressing "Record" but I still get it. Practically every time. And the only way to get rid of it seems to split the tracks after after < 0.5s and disregard initial part.
Also I had old license for GuitarRig so I downloaded GR5 demo and checked the standalone and with Reaper. I think that for sounds of simpler rigs I prefer BIAS FX - warmer and more realistic tone. But GR5 had some overprocessed, over the top sounds I quite liked for example analog (EHX type of) analog synth or some super ambient reverbs/delays. Not sure if BIAS FX has analog synth but I might get GR5 just for those. And their collection of bass amps.

Are you using input fx or are you monitoring the fx but recording the DI?

Not sure how to answer that question I know precious zero about Reaper. I imposed FX on guitar track and I monitor the inpu twith FX but it seems that what is recorded is just guitar - without being processed by plugin.

ok perfect, so then when exactly are you hearing this weird artefact? if you render the mix does it show up, or is it only a problem while you are playing?

Dunno man. It happened 3 times in a row but now I cannot reproduce it. Thanks for the reply!

Those intermittent problems are the worst

I know - but for $60 upgrade I get acoustic amps, bass amps even some vocal stuff. And loads and loads of regular guitar stuff. As I said for very simple tones I think that BIAS FX wins but GR has some funky stuff - analog synth is so '70s !

@tom_niesytto : Uuummmm.....you can get free vsts that are newer that do all that stuff.

True. I dug out my old AXIOM controller and started looking for good synth programs on Web. Tried NI Reactor but I think I am 10-15 yrs too late on this one. Have old IL Multimedia SampleTank but the samples it came any synth sound that I found inspiring. Right now I am looking at Synthmaster - this might be one app I may get. I am a big fan of 70s stuff - like e.g. Weather Reaport - would not mind having ability to put together music with similar touch.

I've been watching those nutjobs on facebook doing crazy stuff with omnisphere. I don't even begin to understand how to set that stuff up. Mike Person does a lot with that
