BIAS Amp - best free VST-PlugIns for adding the missing basic effects
-
Who can give me his opinion about the best free VST-PlugIns, to add the basic effects, BIAS Amp is missing?
Unfortunately I don't like the delay and reverb PlugIns which comes with Cubase 8.Maybe there is something that could be called "all-in-one" for guitar usage?

I don't use VSTs because I'm a Pro-Tools guy, but I did a quick search for "free VST list" and came up with this. There's a lot of MIDI instruments, but there's also Reverbs and Echos and stuff. Try searching around online, there's a lot of lists like this. https://blog.landr.com/best-free-vst-plugins-2016/

@danbieranowski of course Google spits out hundrets of free VST but I kindly like to ask for experiences and opinions.
Otherwise I have to go through all those affiliate-crap and pseudo-freeware, which is listed in all those top-lists, all over the net :(But if I have to I will get back with my experience and tell you about my personal best-of's :)

VST4free is just VSTs. No ads or whatever. All free.

@tannhauser thank you. That's a good source because of the user-ratings

Honestly, I'm not sure what your financial situation is but I'd recommend just waiting on a sale and/or saving up for Bias FX. There is a lot of junk to sift through in the free realm , especially for FX and most of it is garbage. There are a few diamonds in the rough to be sure, but your time is valuable... so I wouldn't hesitate to pick up something commercial that is worthwhile. The only 'all-in-one' stuff that is out there that is free are demos like Amplitube or similar.
Bias FX Standard is pretty complete and is only $99 and fully integrated with Bias Amp.
About the only thing I use with FX is an external IR loader and the Logic plugin suite (most of which are awesome).
Anyway, just a thought. I know I wish I had not wasted so much time sifting through junk in my early days.

Ambience VST has been my go-to reverb for years 'cos its light-weighted and free. Lots of presets (including Rob Papen's) to start with too. The only let down is 32bit only for Windows and the development has stopped.

I am a little bit disappointed about the information on the PG site about BIAS FX Standard. The only information about the content of the package is…
- 12 AMPS AND 30 EFFECTS
Unfortunately there is no list of Amps and Effects at this page and to be honest I am sick of searching for information. Buyers gonna buy… or will choose another option :/
Another con might be, that there could be a resource problem running 4-6 instances of the BIAS Amp VST + 4-6 instances of the FX in my DAW, but that are the needs I have for my production plans. I do hope that there might be much smaller VST for my basic needs.

It is not obvious from the product page but if you go to the help center there is a pdf comparison chart:
https://help.positivegrid.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000245346-BIAS-FX-Product-Chart
The set in Standard is pretty solid. I bought the standard first and then later they had an upgrade deal/sale and that is when I went to FX pro.

Is this mentioned on the site or something, what is making you think this is a potential issue that is particular to FX? I recently had a Logic session that was pushing those limits (all were FX but there were more than six instances of it) and it wasn't even breathing hard. I would think your computer's horsepower would be the limiting thing here. All-in-ones actually seem to use less resources than multiple instances of many individual plugins for me (this goes for all plugs not just PG's stuff).
Example: When I build thermionik presets they are very expensive because the amp only is there so there is an individual plug for a boost, reverb, delay, modulation, IR, etc; every single piece of the chain is a standalone plugin. I think the multiple instances may have a larger memory footprint than an all-in-one in the DAW. So maybe that is taxing the system. Anyway, Thermionik is easily the most resource intensive VST I have when it is all said and done (AT4, PG's stuff, Revalver 4, TH3, Mercuriall, Helix Native). PG's stuff has never struck me as particularly problematic. You might want to demo it for yourself.
Anyway best of luck hopefully you will find something perfect for your needs. It just strikes me as something worth looking at if you are digging the Bias Amp models.

I just wrote a 13 page post about this very subject. Its not just BIAS either...nerve wracking seriously.

It doesn't look like much, but this delay will actually do ping pongs, which many claim to but actually cant. https://www.kvraudio.com/product/spaceship-delay-by-musical-entropy
Any of the REAPER free ReaPlugs are handy to have, there's some of the basics in there.
A good free impulse reverb can get you all sorts of sounds
NADIR From Ignite for a free cabinet impulse loader in case you don't like the cabs in Bias
Strangely enough , the modulation world can be pretty thin if you are looking for bread and butter tempo synced choruses and flanges, but there are some.
A lot of holy grail type FX are only available as freeware, which can be even more puzzling.
Pitchproof is a free true harmonizer, not just a chromatic pitch shifter. http://aegeanmusic.com/pitchproof-Specs

@aaron-carey
Yes, we are making a change to it - complete comparison charts are coming on Amp and FX pages.

@sascha-ballweg I haven't found decent, let alone good, free plugins. I ended up waiting for a sale and bought the BIAS FX program. The standard gives you a nice array of effects. great sounding. Try the demo version out. That's what sold me. I do a lot of recording on the road and that program has everything you need in it. Even amps and cabs.
-
@joseph-davidson I always have "BIAS Amp Pro".
Am I able to hand over the BAP-Amps to BIAS FX Desktop? -
@sascha-ballweg Yes, they appear in a special 'Bias Amp' menu when you select an amp model during preset editing.
-
There's supposed to be an arrow on the right within Bias FX to get at Bias, though I don't know as it injects it real-time. Only Pro versions of both together allow this functionality.

-
@sascha-ballweg yes. Any amp you design in BIAS AMP can be dropped into BIAS FX.
-
@Sascha-Ballweg : you are surprised. In any case, I figured out that Bias and Bias FX work fine in tandem. I think there's a slight difference in sound, I doubt most will notice it, and it won't be apparent in a standard mix. The output of each 'pre' instance of either needs to be maxed. So let's say you want to use the pedals of FX into Bias, into the post effects of FX. The first FX and Bias need to have maxed outputs. Else the input of each successive unit won't have the signal strength it needs. Capice?

From my point of view Positive Grid should heap together both products FX/Amp into a new BIAS Rig offering a upgrade-path. Problem solved :)
