Global output settings: amp+cab sim still affecting volume when stack is turned off
-
I wonder what the intended behaviour of the BiasFX 2 Mobile app is when I:
- turn on Output Settings at the bottom bar
- turn off all 4 elements of the stack (pre amp, tone stack, power amp, cab)
In the above configuration, the amp and cab instances added to the signal chain will still affect the output volume (unless you explicitly disable them in the chain). E.g. a ‘66 AC Boost V2 amp will produce much lower volume than say a ‘77 Silver Tone V2.
My expectation would be that when I turn off all the features of the stack in output settings, it should behave as if the amp and cab components in the signal chain were disabled.
My use case is when I plug into a real amp through a guitar interface (iRig in my case, but that should not matter) using BiasFX, and turn off amp and cab sim conveniently using the output settings, I do not want the amp+cab sim to affect my sound in any way. I want the other effects only.
I understand I could disable the amp and cab sim by flicking these components out of the signal chain, but then I should have separate presets for playing live with a real amp and for practicing with a headphone with amp+cab sim on. I don’t want to maintain two sets of presets just because of this.
What causes the volume difference between different kinds of amps when amp sim is turned off?
What’s the story here?
