Firmware 1.5.4.102 Updating...Never Finishes
-
Hello,
When I went into my Spark app it popped up there was another firmware update. Never got a notice via email like I did on the 1.4.3 last summer. Thought I'd give this one a try as the 1.4.3 updated flawlessly.
Tried the 1.5.4 today, just like I did the 1.4.3, downloaded the file from my win laptop, ran the file, when it had the connect button I plugged in the usb cable connected to the Spark amp and it auto detected it. Clicked on the update button and it said updating but never finished. Tried it twice for over 30 min each. Also tried it for shorter times.
The lights on the right side flashed in unison and the blue lite in the back flashed as well.
Maybe I'm lucky as I see many postings of those who got it to update now have no sound coming out of it. At least when I finally killed the updates mine still works.
I do have the 4.80.0 USB drivers installed. Again the 1.4.3 back July worked fine.
Any ideas or maybe I should wait til they come out with a firmware upgrade that works?
Thanks

@playing-again Got it installed.
I'm posting this in case someone else has a similar problem. Hope it helps someone else.My laptop only has 1 open usb port so I have a splitter on that port. In July and earlier this month I had a memory stick plugged into the splitter with the update on it. When I needed to plug in the usb cable for the amp, I plugged it into the splitter. Back in July with the prev update it all worked fine like this but beginning of Dec with the 1.5.4.102 it didn't.
This time I unplugged the splitter. Copied the firmware update to the laptop via the mem stick in that usb port. Shut down the laptop. Pulled out the mem stick then turned the laptop back on. Ran the update and when the connect button appeared, turned on the Spark and plugged it's usb cable into the only open port on the laptop. It found it automatically as did all the other times. Clicked the update button and in less than a minute it updated and showed 1.5.4.102. I was worried if it bricked my unit as so many others had happen but no, it's all updated and works fine.
So maybe this update doesn't like to run from a mem stick or doesn't like to be connected to a splitter/hub.

@gary_hutchings That's a good question. It's a self powered 4 port hub getting it's power from the usb port itself. I have the laptop connected to the tv so I can display sheet music as well as play guitar pro files and not have to actually print the sheet music. I can also make recordings from the Spark into the laptop. I use a wireless mouse so I can control it across the room.
Off topic...I wish Positive Grid would include a pitch shifter that goes up and down in the spark amp. They included the EQ effect in the prev update right after I bought a pedal for it.
