Update firmware question
-
I hear there's a firmware update. First question: Do I really need it? My amp is running fine. Second question: Can I update it with a Linux PC? I'm a Linux user and haven't used Windows for quite some time. I do have an old Windows 7 PC that I keep around for the occasional need to run a Windows program. Can I update the firmware with it if I need to?

@sam-devoy The update requires Windows or Mac computers. There is nothing at the web-site that indicates that Linux-based machines will be able to run the update. I don't know if a Win7 machine would be able to run it for you. To install it on a non-Mac computer you need to first install the PG Asio driver, which is designed for Win10. I don't know if it will run on a Win7 computer -- the installation program may fail. You must have a friend who has either a Win10 or a Mac that would be willing to help you out.
Whether you need the latest firmware update or not is a question only you can answer -- there are several new amp models to choose from as well as some new effects including a EQ. However the EQ is placed in the MOD slot, so if you want to use the EQ you can't also use a MOD pedal like a chorus or phaser or flanger.
