Asio drivers and vst software
-
Just while I'm waiting for my amp to be delivered I'm wondering a couple of things.
I see that I can use the spark as my audio I/O but to do so I'll need to download asio4all.
I'll give it a go but I very much doubt it will be as good as my Scarlett 4i4 and don't want to cause conflict with other software.So I'm wondering if there are any plans to release your own dedicated asio drivers so I can just use the one.
I using the Spark as an I/O was as good as using my scarlett 4i4 then I could sell my 4i4.
The other thing I was wondering, I have a Pod X3 Live, it comes an array of software from use on both windows and mac such as Gear Box and Pod Farm. It would be fantastic if spark had something similar so I could then sell my Pod X3 or just use if for playing live instead.
I think Spark has the potential to be much more if it had the capabilities of the above.
Obviously there are lots of different audio interfaces to suit different needs but something with the same basic in/out capabilities as my 4i4 would be perfect for most guitarists.

@steve-corr Attaching the Spark to the computer is not a clear-cut issue. Many people have issues with the Positive Grid Spark ASIO driver. It's downloadable from the web-site, but it is fixed at 48KHz, so you need to change every project you might want to record with it to that spec, and then later resample it down to 44.1KHz for wav or CDaudio format. That's part of why everybody recommends using the ASIO4ALL audio driver if you're plugging your Spark directly into the computer. If you're running the audio output from the Spark into the Scarlett, then I agree it won't be necessary to use ASIO4ALL. Wait until you get the amp and then see what you want to do. I suggest running audio output from the Spark rather than using the USB as an interface because I feel you have more control over the audio quality and the sound that way. There have been way too many problems reported from people using the Spark as an audio interface to waste time trying to make it work. In my opinion.

@dhbailey
Just noticed your reply, it's pretty much how I figured.
Maybe a bit of a jack of all trades, I just got it today and need to spend a lot more time with it. I don't like that there's no windows software to control it with and I'm not sure yet that it's going to be much of an improvement on my Pod X3 Live in terms of amp models and effects, it does have some other nice features though. :-)Steve

@steve-corr Ah, but there is, and if the developer gets more interest he will do more updates.
