iOS FRFR Test Setup

Oh man, so many variables if I did that, couldn't do it justice. I can tell you there is a bump from 146 - 165 Hz or roughly D-E in that range, that I have made contoured EQ curves for when using the stock Treaplate cabinet in Bias. Two 2.5dB cuts in a rather narrow range at 150hz and 160hz.
Doesn't seem to be an issue with any of the Celestion impulses, but I really love that particular stock cabinet!
-
so how does it feel when you play it?
-
GREAT!!!!!
I don't think I've ever been as happy with my guitar setup. I'm even as happy or happier with the sound and control of it than my computer, which I can get far more OCD about.
-
do you ever have any popping or clicking with you are using IR loader apps?
what buffer rate do you use?
-
I'm running Bias FX in Ultra Low Latency. I have popping clicking and the actual IR apps straight dissappearing in iOS, so I am making the impulse based heads on the desktop and exporting them to the cloud
-
I'm not sure if the host app controls the buffers...I'm normally running Bias inside Tonestack and tonestack is set to 128 buffers @44.1kHz
-
Damn. Right now I have everything at 256 in order to get Fiddlicator to go with no crackling. Maybe I might be better off with a hardware IR loader like the Mooer radar or just the amplifire box.
What quality lever are your simulations in tonestack and bias? Right now I have bias on ultra low latency and I have tonestack on the default quality
-
I think Tonestack is at 128 and Bias is ultralow...If I like an impulse, I bake it in in bias desktop, I've given up on IAA impulse loaders
-
Ok so your bias amps in the tone cloud already are setup with a cab. I downloaded one of them that had the level down really really low, the "800 balanced"
Do you set them up for lower db or something?
-
Alright so something happened when I tried to put your balanced 800 amp model into JamUp. It said it had unsupported modules and then when I opened it back up in bias the amp match and IR were gone
-
@brian-dress Jam Up does not support IR loading or Amp Matching in Bias amps, correct? It is only FX, IIRC. Your phone is not gonna cut it. You need the tablet version of FX.
-
@elric yeah I mean at that point I would say fuck bias and just go for a hardware modeler. It's just a convenience thing while I save for something better. Bias head was never an option in my eyes, rather helix or Kemper just save a bit longer
-
@brian-dress I have a full license of Helix Native and IMHO Bias > Helix for most tones, especially heavy. You might want to budget for the Kemper, if you happen to have similar tastes.
-
Yeah I'm definitely saving for Kemper

They're all set so that 150hz, 800hz and 2.5khz sine tones summed together at -12dBFS on my PC come out at -15dBFS. Then I can compare apples to apples for levels. I know it may sound quiet, but for instance, "Mod2c Balanced" can still swing past 0dBFS on low D chugs...I may look at lowering this standard even further or (hint hint devs!) a multiband compressor sure would be nice!
-
I will have to test it out. The most success I have has was using Aum to patch the apps together. It gives me a much finer control over levels into and out of the different apps.
-
Cleaning up the wiring with some right angle connectors
-
nice! I think I want to get a lightning extender cable for the USB 3 connector. I dont like the connector flexing cable. Do you think it would work with a lightning extender cable?
-
I don't know, but that connector scares the hell out of me on every device I've tried. I keep thinking there's gotta be a way to make something more solid
-
yeah so im gonna try an extension cable and then stabalize that connector so its not floppin around
