Bias Fx 2 available for download. Disappointing license transfer
-
In my case, I had Elite on FX1, and today I downloaded FX2, the new app gave me an option to transfer my purchases, which I did,, then it asked me to sign with my PG account, which I also did,, then I went to the Shopping Cart inside FX2 and saw that my upgrade price for FX2 was $49 (which is 20 less than the early adopter price and 40 less than the inflated full price). So , I paid the upgrade (yes, I gave them more money).
I got a warning saying that "everything is included on Elite, but not the Celestion IR"
That Celestion IR is not even available yet, so who knows what it is and how much it will be.Now, inside my FX2 Elite I have access to everything.
The only thing is that non of my custom presets were transferred, so I guess I have to use some workaround via Tonecloud or crate the whole tones from scratch.Am I happy with my experience, meh,, a little, the upgrade should have costed 20, specially for buyers of FX1 in the last 3 months.
And you should be able to see beforehand what will be your "before and after", without have to pay anything. And PG, this is for you: People are watching, dont get too comfy if you dont see a decline on adoption on this particular FX2 app, rest assure, people have memory, they might not care about 40 or 50 or 90 dollars, but they will think many times over before purchasing expensive PG gear, specially pre-orders (I did, and because of this whole experience and the posts I read here,a week ago I got a Kemper instead of a Head, and Im pretty sure there are more like me)

@elgrantimo64 no Celestion and no Scenes I know the latter is going to make a lot of people happy
and lets not forget no AU support in 2020 that is so right on...
-
@scaryguitartricks-0 whats your experience
-
Yeah I don’t even understand what is supposed to transfer. I had bias fx universal ultimate license and do not even have access to a mf tubescreamer in bias fx 2
-
@brian-dress the only thing that transferred was expansions - all the other stuff just allows you to get up to a $20 discount on Elite and you have to pay something if you want any of the stuff you licensed before - like Tubescreamer Wah Compressor etc
- anyone who bought BFX1 Mobile Ultimate license thinking it would transfer all the un-locked non-expansion FX and stuff is out of luck - only the expansion stuff transfers
-
Supposed everything is transferred, but whatever I select I get a prompt to buy a license. So, nothing is transferred.there is only a discount nothing else.
I have the full license on bfx1 on iPad and elite License on desktop. -
@tafkad No. They wants more money! I want my Classics from 60’s pack and Metal signature pack from Bias FX!

I have the elite License on desktop."IF you have the expansions" this will let you use the expansions that from the desktop version
-
@tafkad wow so shit. Lol mooer ge labs is super free and sounds better. And nembrini Audio has auv3. They are dropping a 5150 sim on June 1st and they typically run a promotional 9.99 introductory sale
-
@brian-dress indeed, I am a little disappointed but then again my playing days are really numbered because of back issues and nerve damage so I am about done and ready to leave it to the younger generations to enjoy
-
in bias fx I had all the amps and effects. the transition to bias fx 2 assigns me the free version with only 3 amps? are you crazy?
-
@sergio-sala the only amps beyond 1 is the expansion amps (merrow etc) like 4 so yea very thin until you spend more $$
-
Some there. Own FX1 ultimate with the everything, and after kinda "Transfer" there is no any as it was promised "special" discount on licenses (price the same as for new users), from packs moved might be 10% (part of metal pack). Removing from all devices.....

@korkenknopfus I did the iap transfer on the iPad version and it killed the FX 1 store on my ipad. But I can still see FX 1 iap purchases on the iPhone version. I didn't bother downloading FX 2 on the phone and doing the iap transfer, so perhaps that steps is what kills the FX 1 store.
-
@sergio-sala same here, neither of those expansions transferred for me. Interesting that there's no response in this thread from PG that I can see...do they even participate in their own forum?! On facebook they seem to reply but only if you say something nice. I guess comments about getting ripped off on expansion pack transfers don't warrant a response from PG?

I’m super disappointed with the fact nothing transfers over properly and we are expected to pay for things we’ve already purchased in the past. Surely they will make things right otherwise they could be setting themselves up for potential class action lawsuits and things of that nature. I can’t say that definitively but it stands to reason that something actionable could be done if all users are expected to pay twice for the same stuff? All the money they would take in on the repurchases would go to lawyer fees and if the courts ruled against them and awarded the customers a settlement? That could easily be the end of the company. With that being said, I’m sure they take things like that into consideration and so I’m fairly certain they have a plan to remedy this problem for long time, loyal, existing customers. Who knows though? Im probably wrong...

You don't have to buy FX2 - you can happily stay on FX1. They are not taking away anything you have bought. FX2 is a new product - if you want to buy it, buy it. if you don't then what you have still works. It's not a free update.
-
@holmesdstephen more of this - there will be no lawsuits and a total waste of time to speculate
it is a new app as they stated and all in-app purchased expansions transfer (from desktop or mobile), owning previous version can make for up to a $20 discount for the new elite license but in no way did I expect it to have unlocked everything without a new license for a new app - I did state however people were going to be unhappy and this has become very clear and will continue
I also have all desktop including BFX1 Pro (top level for that version) when they released Bias FX 2 Desktop I had to buy new licenses and my expansions were all that transferred same as this now - no talk of lawsuits then because that is just crazy talk

Honestly, I'm not sure what you all are complaining about. About a year ago, I purchased the "Ultimate" Version of BFX1. I've loved it for what it is. And I am also an owner of BFX2 on PC. I immediately reserved the app in the app store the day it was announced. Wednesday night I received the email saying the app launched, so I jumped on my iPad to see what kind of shenanigans were in place for previous owners. I was prompted with the one time transfer of expansions from BFX1, of which all of them transferred over. And then immediately went to see what kind of price I was getting the Elite edition for BFX2. $49.99. -- $49.99 gives you almost everything (I say almost because there are still things that seem to need to be implemented into this app to bring it to full 1:1 speed with the desktop app, but doesn't negate how amazing this app is already in it's current state). - To me, the fact that you guys are complaining over $50 for something that if I wanted to go out and buy a legit Multi-FX Pedal/Modeler for is a SLIVER of the price. In some ways I feel like this app blows an entry level Helix Stomp or Headrush out of the water. FOR $50! - Sure, its the initial release. Sure there are some bugs (most of my Tonecloud presets don't work, etc.). Sure PG could have been more transparent about its upgrade system, etc. But man, I'd still throw another $50 at this app any day. I've been playing with it for hours today with nothing but a grin on my face. And if I had some weird instance where my Preset wasn't working...I still have BFX1 to jump back to. - I feel like everyone is always so easily ready to bring out the pitchforks when something doesn't fully meet their expectations right out the gate.
Same with the Spark. I was one of the first 500 to order a Spark. I ordered it in hopes to receive it by Christmas (because PG stated they would). I never heard a single word from them about delays, processing, etc. But I patiently waited, and on one surprising day in late February, it showed up on my doorstep, and man is it one of the coolest Practice amps that I've ever owned. Totally worth the wait.
Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, but I just feel like sometimes we are so used to instant gratification and getting what we want in the very moment that we don't truly appreciate what we've already got.

very true and a good price really when you look at all of it - however aside from all those who want this to be an "update" which it is not nor ever was promoted as such, the selling of public betas that are incomplete (midi, pedal integrate, celestion IR's) and have bugs brings the type of response it has, not surprising
also we have the people who just bought BFX1 mobile in the past weeks without knowing this was on the horizon (though we have been waiting over a year for this) and of course that never sits well - for them I suggest either seek a refund through Crapple via your iTunes account on their website where you do that which is easy up to a certain amount of time and then buy BFX2 instead - or ask pGrid very nicely for a promo code to unlock some of the new stuff if you are just past the refund date cutoff, they are very good about this sort of thing when it is feasible
not sure what is up with scenes as maybe they will come later with midi but no info on it yet
cheers
