Bias FX locks up during AUM Session
-
Hey guys. I most often use Bias FX Mobile inside of an AUM session. I tend to turn off cabs in Bias FX and use Rooms for Impulse Responses.
Sometimes ill get this thing happen where i just get this constant digital tone like an alarm or something froze. It will stop and ill get guitar sound again once I open up the Bias FX screen by clicking the slot in AUM. then i can go back to aum and everyhting is cool.
Intermittent but happens at least once per session. Any thoughts?
-
Just a though...Are you using any other apps in conjunction with Bias FX within AUM?
I have the same unsolved issue...
-
@brian-dress what iPad model?
I get the same issue and not using AUM - waited for someone to report this issue, happens when using bias in quantiloop and same deal if I bring the bias app into focus it stops. I have it happen when biasfx is the focused app too and same deal a little screen input and it stops. Sometimes the noise goes away on it's own rather quick, most times is like it is frozen and non stop until you make it go away. I think it has happened in stand alone mode as well but been using the pc mostly the past few months so hard to recall. It is an issue I don't see reported and is hard to recreate consistently happening when it feels like it, and on rare occasions not at all. I suspect more people run into it that are not sure what is causing this and so don't ask.
THIS has been what I consider a hidden issue that keeps me from full on promoting the iPad version for live use - note so far once you get past the "BUZZ ALERT" it does not happen twice for me
iPad pro 2nd gen 10"

I am on an iphone 7 plus using Bias FX mobile. ios 12.0.1
I typically use Bias FX inside AUM before Rooms or Fiddlicator so I can load impulse responses.
Yes the error occurs when I am viewing Aum screen and then when I re focus to bias fx it comes back on and then I can go back to aum screen
-
This was my original post on the issue. It was never solved despite me spending ages replicating and videoing the whole thing for customer support.
I'm on an iPad Pro 10.5"

@vaultnaemsae thanks for providing the link and more info - this issue really needs to be sorted out and obviously has been known for over 6 months
considering that this would be horrible live through a PA this is something that needs to be a priority not just left on the back burner hoping that FX2 will not suffer the same issue
@Mike @Felix has there been any investigation into this issue and is there a plan to sort this out?
cheers
-
@tafkad I had it happen yesterday twice in a session so that kinda puts to bed the whole "once you get past it youre good" theory.
-
@brian-dress good to know, and that makes it more of an issue as there is no way you could trust this live in this fashion with such an obnoxious bug looming
everyone is so impatient about getting BFX2 for iOS when I would like to see this addressed and solved before investing in the next version

It's like PG are saying, "F**k you, losers! We have your money already so why should we fix our flaky app? Great marketing success!!! Soon we'll be just like IK Multimedia!!!"
Do I sound a bit jaded? Sure I do...We buy these apps with our hard-earned money and these clowns just drop the ball again and again. Zero pride in the product; Zero indication of any intention to fix the broken products.
The MIDI...Did I mention the MIDI sync doesn't flipping work???? How the hell are users expected to sync BPM effects? Like what is the goddam point of having BPM effects if you can't sync them? iOS users don't only use standalone apps, PG! Can you get that through your thick skulls?
And...just in case you haven't already been ear f**ked enough by PG...has anybody else tried to use the reverb in Bias Amp iOS within a host app? It's broken but you can't take it to a repair shop cos the clowns at PG are the only ones who can fix it -- and they won't!!! How can you release an app that is so broken? How does Apple even let you get away with it???
These are half-baked attempts at usable audio applications. At least for all the shortcomings the desktop apps basically work as described and get bugs crushed within reasonable timeframes.
PG promises us an integrated environment where we can take your presets from the studio to the stage...what an absolute load of b**lsh*t!!! If PG will actually fix their faults I'll happily take all this back but I am not gonna hold my breath...These apps have been broken forever and we piss away our time trying to virtually beta test for them for free.
Rant done. One angry user decides to never buy a PG product ever again.

wish i could get neural dsp on ios

We can dream...

I’m experiencing the same problem, basically I cannot use BiasFX inside AUM, I will get the audio frame loop bug 100% of the time. BiasFX is the only plugin that causes such a problem.
-
OK, now 2020, March I bought the full kit and how should I say this? It failed in the same way als described in the first post. I use AUM and Audiobus everyday for my work with synth. And I also use JamUp Pro without any problems. The horror starts during this week. Bought this app to realise a new project.
Sound good, works bad and would fit all my needs if the buzzing sound does occurs sometimes. One per hours or so. To much! This drives me crazy. And then I found this thread. And now Apple won't let me give back this shitty software.
60€ for a software which is unusable on stage. I love it...you know...
Any workarounds?
-
@hesspet still patiently waiting...
-
So I'm not alone in this, eh? I really like the way Bias FX sounds, when it doesn't cut out and turn into a giant buzz...makes it hard for me to put money into the expansion packs! I'm the same as you guys, other guitar amps (including jamup pro) do not do this. I would really like this to work!
-
@gurumonkey yep we continue to wait for them to fix this because iOS BFX1 is unusable in the IAA department for this very HUGE bug that is potentially dangerous to gear and ears everywhere and is why I still can not promote the iOS version for live use without risk (which stinks)
If PG can not repeat this bug as they have told some users in replies to tickets opened then they are not trying very hard at all - it takes more than a minute for it to appear so you need to go at it like you plan on playing live for an hour or so putting BFX1 in an IAA slot in some application (AUM Quantiloop AudioMux) all of them will recreate the same problem that ONLY occurs with BFX1 with IAA
try it more than a few times and you will start to understand the depth of this issue
-
Yep. Same thing has been happening to me and I’m brand new to Bias FX. BFX plugged into either Audiobus or GarageBand for 20 or 30 minutes and BUZZZZ.. I’ve been ok so far in standalone and using BFX as primary with an audio unit attached. I think what bothers it the most is being linked with other apps like GarageBand IMHO.

@beforr exactly - and just can't miss the opportunity to continue to drive this home with an anecdote that some may resonate with:
"A few years back saw this app for guitars on iPad and gave it a try, sounded real good and I could see a future in iPad and soundcard coupling - so I bought all in, as it was priced for real people not the imaginary kind and since I owned the tablet already and a computer it meant I could sell an 11 Rack and replace it with Software and own less material . Or so I thought..."
The buzz bug came later appearing in the apps interaction with IAA which meant with other apps too and has made it sort of an unwanted child no one wants to take responsibility for. Happened for me when integrated in a live guitar setup at band practices - was a VERY bad scene. Meanwhile people wait, if you search real hard here through this forums search system (ouch) you can find some real old posts, like a small storm of them, back before "spark" was even announced and shortly after the release of BFX2 Desktop, all filled with passion: "where is BFX2 iOS and when will it be here?" and all were told "it's coming" hell I thought it was too. I mean it is, and they have said such to me in an email. Though more interesting was the language in an email regarding ongoing issues with "xDrummer" your ex-drummer, that seemed to indicate exactly what I had felt since seeing this marvelous greatly needed replacement for? well for an iPad and a Computer called "spark" which is exactly what it now attempts to be, wait sorry. Quote:
"We have to admit that our resource on mobile apps is somewhat limited since the development of our new product. We will talk to our product team and make sure they spend more time and resources on iOS"
I mean why let crapple make all the $$ on new toys right? don't get me wrong it's brilliant and could not be sweeter! but please [ "guayls " pronounced "gua-whiles" ] come on, we need to hear back on development of this platform. A platform that brought many people in and over to the desktop versions for further investment into said "platforms" that has funded research and development of a totally new tangent unrelated to all those investments, except that it makes the wheels go round and thats how business works. So by deduction BFX2 iPlatform should be kicking out the door soon. Obviously since it is not out, and was told recently it is in "beta" you know, um I would suspect it is not ready - which sucks. So lately I don't use the desktop and use other apps to work with people remotely and to catch up on old mix projects. A sort of "silent" protest since it honestly is not continued free promotion and advertising you get from real happy consumers when you do this.
Hope they fix it soon, as always thanks for all your work PG and congrats on the success of your latest marketing investment - cheers
Disclaimer:
I suppose I will always feel this way so it's not PG at fault for my own "buyers remorse" consumer tool feelings. I live on the planet too, make my choices how much I want to invest in this new world of toys and tools. I have to choose which is which and what I need, or just want. Until I can make all the right choices without fear, whatever those may be, I will always have to share the guilt. Further research needed will provide me better risk management. -
@beforr Update: My particular buzz problem seemed to go away as I gained more experience in switching between apps. I really don’t know what I’m doing differently except that most of my Audiobus combos only involve BFX and maybe 1 other audio unit, so I’m keeping it simple. However, I crashed my system last week by trying to take a screenshot of my setup inside BiasAmp2 while BFX was running in the background. Since then my iPad 7 seems to be more sensitive to crashes now. For instance BFX crashed the other day just moving the Crystalline AU around the pedalboard. Hoping BFX2 will be more stable.

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm also having this issue, but with Audiobus 3. If I load an Audiobus session with BiasFX, I can play for about 10 min before I hear the ZZZZZAAAAAAAP. I have to close all apps, but then something really odd happens when I reload: The output volume is halved or more. After DAYS of diagnosing, I've found that the only way to get the output volume back up to normal is to open another app like GarageBand, play through that for a bit, then close it and reopen BiasFX. I can play through BiasFX all day, but as soon as I try to run it through Audiobus, I get the DeathBuzz.
