BIAS FX 2 v2.1.4 Beta (Win)

@mike Thanks for the Beta release.
Preliminary results show marked improvement on CPU usage over the previous release on most Dual amps/cabinets. Initial launch time might be faster, hard to tell. The install time is still very long, upwards of 5-10 minutes?
-
@mike Ok... no more midi crashes!! It takes about 15 seconds for the midi capability to acitivate... but beggers cannot be choosers. The scenes are a little inconsistent... sometimes switching to scene 2 and back to scene one does not sound right (like it is not reflecting the changes... ).
but otherwise, so far so good.
-
I was just about to ask about the midi crashes! How much junk does it write to the project file?

The scenes have never been right, so you're saying they still aren't?
The only difference I'm seeing so far is improved CPU usage on Dual amps.
-
Cabinet IR is still taking up ungodly amounts of CPU compared to other IR loaders...Like 5-10x as much
-
@pipelineaudio We'll look into the IR Loader , thanks!

Thanks we'll look into this!

@myxolydian We'll see if we can adjust the install time, thanks!

Thanks, Mike. It's not like 5 or 10 minutes is a crazy amount of time to wait overall, but its only a 500mb install, not 5gb.
Don't know if it's been addressd in this version or not, but the PC messages are still not getting through to the VST client without first opening the VST window. -
Is opening Bias FX2 as vst in a DAW also opening a desktop window as well for anyone else?
Testing it on a live stream right now

@pipelineaudio Can't reproduce that...great studio by the way!

Also, a slight delay in switching patches (not scenes)... not terrible, but could be a little faster.
Regarding scenes... here is an observation/suggestion: I think, by default, scene 1 and the main Patch should be the same by default. This way you only have 4 slots for modification. As it is now, you have 5.... the initial patch, and scenes 1-4. If I am on scene 3, and hit the foot switch for the main patch, it does not go back to the initial patch settings...
Hopefully this makes sense.
-
Yes! I love the scenes in theory, but they do have a weird paradigm that could hopefully. Be made more sensible.
I kind of gave up on them as it seemed to forget the settings the next time I opened bias fx and I have to make the scenes all over again. Hopefully that’s fixed as well.
-
@paul-jones32 I'll take a note and see what we can do, thanks!
@pipelineaudio Does it happen all the time after saving a preset before closing BIAS FX 2 ? Thanks!
-
I need to check that I'm actually saving the preset to bias FX and not just saving it in reaper. That might be the issue
-
I think all the confusion comes from the spec of the Scene feature:
All the scenes will follow the changes made in the original preset. If you make some changes in the original signal paths , all the scenes will follow the changes
We'll review this spec and see if we can improve it to fit the most applied scenario
-
That part makes perfect sense, in fact it seems like it would be broken if it wasn't like that
-
Alright, after some testing, scenes seem to be behaving better, no more midi crashes so far
However, no matter how I save them, the wah is randomly on or off, no rhyme or reason, same as sometimes the amp head and other pedals, not how I set them in the scenes. This seems rather buggy still but is awesome in theory!

Sadly, until each scene remains 100% intact as to how they were initially set, the feature is virtually worthless for me. The prospect of playing a show, engaging a scene, and having the wah be on when I expect it to be off, or off when I expect it to be on, or in a position I didn't want it in makes the prospect of using scenes impossible.
